The Greenfield Bee Festival

Saturday, June 4th 2016 (9:00 am – 12:00 noon)

Greenfield and other Franklin County towns will celebrate Bee Week.  One of the biggest events is the Langstroth Bee Fest, which will be at Second Congregational Church in Greenfield on June 4 from 9 a.m. to noon.

A former pastor of the Second Congregational Church, Lorenzo Langstroth, developed the moveable frame beehive and wrote, “The Hive and the Honey Bee,” one of the most important overviews of beekeeping still in print today.  He was called the Father of American beekeeping.

Children will learn about honeybees and other pollinators at the Bee Fest, as well as nature in general. Adults will learn what they can do to improve pollinator health in their yards, while helping improve our vital connection to food, or to consider keeping bees as a family project.

There will be games, forums, speakers and a community parade. And remember, the farmers market will be going strong on nearby Court Square.

Langstroth Day is a month away!
